Noriko for Kayona-Kim by Abt-Nihil Noriko for Kayona-Kim by Abt-Nihil
Only half a year since I offered ten free sketches... and here's already the second one :D

:iconkayona-kim: requested I draw an 80s anime girl... and since of all 80s animes I'm probably most attached to Gunbuster (though technically it's VERY LATE 80s and has more of an early 90s spirit, if you ask me :D - but its character designer Haruhiko Mikimoto is probably my personal favorite when it comes to the nostalgic 80s style - he also designed the Macross characters if I remember correctly) I chose Noriko Takaya. That said, my style looks nothing like 80s anime ^^; If you wanna see that style done to its perfection, check out =kayona-kim's gallery.

I just love this serie and i was so happy when i got this serie last year. It was among my very first animes i saw, and i still just love it! its shame theynever really finished the serie, as last episodes are black and white and if i remember totally right now, some hwerejust black and white pictures with music.

You remember correctly! However, making it in b/w was the full intention of the director, and I think it looks beautiful and far from unfinished. You can argue about the b/w pictures with music, but personally, I like that sequence too. For me, Gunbuster is was one of those series which gets better with each viewing. I also love the sequel, Diebuster. Have you seen it?

No i havent seen that i love too much the first one X3
i always even i have seen the gunbuster already god knows how many times, i still cry when smith dies, and noriko freezes in space. I still get chills when she just takes the gunbuster and goes, i even remember the wordwhat she says when she puts the full body contact( or what it was, that i dont remember) to top and goes like bring it on!!! *shivers*

I just love it!! it was not bad the b/w as i love b/w art too, but on young age it was hey what? if i wouldnot love the series, why would have seenthe trouble to get it XD or yearned it for yeaaars!

Haha! Okay, okay :) I just felt like I had to defend it for a moment, but now I see I don't. :D

I was a bit wary about Diebuster at first, but it's probably one of the best sequels I've ever seen. It stands very well on its own, but reflects and complements Gunbuster in an interesting way. And on top of it, it's plain awesome!! :)

Interesting - many of those are classics. I'm a bit jaded with newer anime actually, so I generally prefer 80s and 90s stuff, with a few exceptions.
